Notes of interest to Southwest PULSErs:

1. The PULSE website has undergone considerable revamping, with the intent of making it more useful to PULSE Community Members and more attractive to prospective PULSE members.

2. We have recently been awarded a NSF conference grant that supports the planning and delivery of a Southern California PULSE Institute for 8 institutions. There will be more details forthcoming. Please be on the lookout for an email about this project.

@Jean Maines - I've moved your query to a discussion on this page, where threaded responses are easier to follow, OK?

Greetings fellow pulses. Quick question--do you know the approximate % of students who pass (a-c) freshman biology for science majors at your institution? Anyone know where to find this data nationally?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi Brian and David; great to hear from you, and to have your support!

Is there anything that you could suggest as a way to pull in more of the PULSE community in the Southwest? Would a reminder of the resources available (Ambassador Visits, On-lineWorkshops and the ToolKit) be useful? We are planning a SW PULSE Workshop for next Spring, but that is a long way away (and we will have to get funding).

Any ideas are welcome!

I will be glad to help in any way and promote our activities through the Society for College Science Teachers and the National Association of Biology Teachers.

Hi everyone! I am very excited that the Southwest group is now a reality. After a brief 2 days to catch up on sleep I am now re-energized, and ready to think about all that we can do in our region.
